Frequently Asked Questions¶
Account and access¶
How do I create a new organization?
Sign in at mentionai.app and use the organization switcher to create a new organization. You become the admin and are guided through the onboarding wizard to set everything up.
How do I switch between organizations?
Use the organization switcher in the sidebar (if you are an admin) or the header (if you are a member). This is available if you belong to more than one organization.
I signed in but I don't see any learning content. What's wrong?
You need to be assigned to at least one Audience before you can see learning content. If you see a message saying you have not been assigned yet, contact your admin and ask them to add you to an Audience.
Content and sources¶
How do I connect a content source?
As an admin, go to the Sources page, choose the provider you want to connect (Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, etc.), and follow the authorization flow. For web crawls, enter the URL you want to crawl. See Connecting Sources for details.
How many documents can I activate per source?
Each integration supports up to 2,000 active documents. Web crawls support up to 500 active pages. See Managing Assets for details.
How often are sources synced?
All integrations and web crawls sync daily on an automatic schedule. You can also trigger a manual sync at any time from the Sources page.
Why aren't any concept candidates showing up?
A term needs to appear at least 5 times across your activated assets to surface as a candidate. If you have only activated a small number of documents, the threshold may not be met. You can also write in a concept manually — though it still has to appear enough times in your sources for Mention to define and teach it. See Curating Glossaries.
My integration isn't syncing. What should I do?
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration from the Sources page. This refreshes the connection. Make sure the account you used to connect has the necessary permissions in the external platform (e.g., workspace admin in Notion, file access in Google Drive).
What happens when two sources disagree about the same thing?
Mention detects these as contradictions — pairs of facts from different documents that conflict about the same Concept. Admins review them in the Knowledge view on the web (called Steering on mobile), pick which fact is correct, and suppress the losing version. This improves the accuracy of generated articles and Q&A answers. See Steering and Reviewing Contradictions for the detection mechanics.
Learning¶
Can I skip prerequisite concepts?
Yes. If a concept has prerequisites, you see a notice suggesting you complete them first. You can choose to continue anyway and access the concept directly.
How are articles and SOPs generated?
Articles and SOPs are generated on demand — the first time you open a concept or process. Mention creates personalized learning content using your organization's source documents. After the initial generation, the content loads instantly on future visits.
How is progress calculated?
- Concept progress = completed article sections / total sections
- Process progress = completed SOP tasks / total tasks
A concept is passed when all sections are complete. A process is passed when all tasks are complete (or marked as read). You achieve mastery when everything across all your Audiences is done.
What does "grounded" mean in Grounded Q&A?
It means Mention generates answers using your organization's actual source documents as context, rather than generic information. This makes answers more accurate and relevant to your specific setup.
Audiences and members¶
How do I invite team members?
As an admin, open an Audience and use its Members tab (or the audience header menu) to invite members by email. You choose whether each invitee is an admin or a member. See Inviting Members.
Can a member belong to multiple Audiences?
Yes. Members can be assigned to as many Audiences as needed. They use the audience selector in the header to switch between them. Each Audience has its own concepts, processes, and progress tracking.
What happens when I remove a member from an Audience?
The member can no longer access that Audience's learning content. Their previously generated articles and SOPs are retained but are no longer accessible to them through the app.
Integrations and API¶
Can I access Mention programmatically?
Yes, via Agents. An Agent is an API credential scoped to specific Audiences. It lets external tools — like the Mention MCP server — query your Glossary and Playbook content without a logged-in user. See Agents.
What happens to an Agent's access if I delete an Audience?
You cannot delete an Audience that still has active Agent grants — or members, or pending invitations. Remove those first (and remove the Agent grants, or delete the Agent), then delete the Audience. When an Agent is deleted, all of its Audience grants are removed automatically.
Billing and credits¶
What happens when credits run out?
Actions that consume credits — such as article generation, SOP creation, grading, and Q&A — become temporarily unavailable. You see a notification suggesting you upgrade your plan or wait for the next billing cycle. Non-credit actions (browsing existing content, viewing progress) continue to work.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle with no rollover.
What's the difference between plans?
All plans include the same features. The only difference is the monthly credit allocation. Higher-tier plans provide more credits. The Unlimited plan removes the credit cap entirely. See Plans and Pricing.
What counts as a credit-consuming action?
Article generation, SOP generation, knowledge check grading, grounded Q&A, content analysis (when assets are activated), glossary rebuilds, and contradiction detection all consume credits. See Understanding Credits for the full list.
