Notifications¶
Notifications keep you informed about things that need your attention in Mention — a contradiction waiting for review, freshly built content, or a response to feedback you gave. They appear behind the bell icon in the sidebar (or the header on mobile), with a badge showing how many are unread.
How notifications work¶
Mention batches notifications rather than firing one per event. Related events that happen close together are grouped into a single notification that arrives after a short quiet period — so ten contradictions detected during one sync produce one notification saying "10 contradictions need review," not ten separate entries. This means notifications are deliberate, not instant: expect them within minutes to half an hour of the underlying event.
Each notification links to the place where you act on it. Clicking one marks it as read and takes you there. Read notifications stay in the panel, dimmed, so you can find them again; Mark all read clears the badge in one click.
Who receives what¶
What you see behind the bell depends on your role.
Organization admins receive:
- Contradictions need review — conflicting facts were detected in your knowledge base. Links to the knowledge queue.
- Questions couldn't be answered — members asked questions your sources don't cover, collected into a periodic digest. Links to the unanswered questions view.
- Out of credits — your organization exhausted its credits for the billing cycle.
Audience owners receive:
- Feedback awaiting response — learners submitted feedback on your Audience's content. Links to the Audience's Feedback tab.
- Learners finished your Audience — a learner completed every article and SOP in an Audience you own. Links to the Audience's Adoption tab, where you can see who.
- Learners have stalled — one or more learners haven't completed any content in your Audience for a week. Counted per Audience, so you get "3 learners have stalled," not one notification each. Links to the Audience's Adoption tab, where you can see which learners have fallen behind.
Learners receive:
- Content ready / content updated — articles or SOPs written for you are ready, or existing ones were rewritten (with a summary of what changed). Note that when an owner accepts someone's feedback, the affected content is rewritten for everyone in the Audience, so you may see this without having asked for anything. Links to the Audience's Glossary or Playbook, depending on what was written.
- Your feedback got a response — an Audience owner accepted or declined feedback you submitted. Links to the Audience's Learn tab, where the content — and your feedback's status — now reflects the decision.
- Pick up where you left off — you haven't completed any content in an Audience for a week. Repeats weekly while you're away, and stops as soon as you complete something. Links to the Audience's Learn tab so you can resume.
The out-of-credits banner¶
Running out of credits is more than a notification — it pauses everything that consumes credits (content generation, grading, Q&A). While your organization is out of credits, everyone also sees a banner across the top of the app. For admins the banner includes an Upgrade plan shortcut; for members it explains that credit-based features are paused until the next billing cycle. The banner disappears on its own once credits are available again.
