Knowledge Checks and Progress¶
Knowledge checks are how Mention verifies that members have understood the material. Progress tracking shows how far each member has advanced through their learning content.
Knowledge checks¶
Every piece of learning content in Mention includes knowledge checks — short assessments that test understanding.
In articles¶
Each section of a concept article ends with a knowledge check — a short multiple-choice quiz. You answer one question at a time, see an explanation for each, and get a score at the end. You must answer every question correctly to pass the section; if you don't pass, you can retake the quiz.
In SOPs¶
Each task in an SOP includes a knowledge check. As you work through the SOP step by step, you take the quiz for each task. For purely informational tasks, you can mark them as read instead, which still counts toward completion.
Grading¶
Quizzes are graded automatically. Results are recorded immediately, and you can review which answers you got right (with explanations) and retake a quiz you didn't pass.
Progress tracking¶
Progress is tracked at multiple levels, giving both members and admins visibility into learning advancement.
How progress is calculated¶
| Content type | Calculation |
|---|---|
| Concept | Completed article sections / total sections |
| Process | Completed SOP tasks / total tasks |
A concept is passed when every article section's knowledge check is passed. A process is passed when all its SOP tasks are completed (knowledge check passed, or marked as read).
Mastery¶
A member achieves mastery when they have completed all concepts and all processes across every Audience they belong to.
For members¶
On their learning home, members see progress directly:
- Processes in the Playbook rail show a circular progress ring, and a checkmark once complete
- Concepts in the Glossary graph are highlighted as the member masters them
- Incomplete items are surfaced first, so the next thing to work on is easy to find
(On mobile, the Playbook and Glossary appear as two lists, with incomplete items first and completion badges on each.)
For admins¶
Each Audience has an Adoption tab with two views:
- User Progress — per-member completion across the audience's concepts and processes
- Content Adoption — per-concept and per-process completion across the audience, showing how widely each piece of content has been completed
Grounded Q&A¶
While learning, members can ask questions through a Q&A footer at the bottom of the learning home, a concept article, or an SOP. Mention generates answers that are grounded in the organization's source material, and shows which sources it drew on — a member can open a cited source to see the document and the specific facts behind the answer.
On the learning home a question is scoped to the whole audience; on a concept article it's scoped to that concept; on an SOP it's scoped to the process and the task being worked on, for more focused answers.
Questions asked by members are tracked and surface as FAQs on the Audience's FAQs tab when multiple members ask similar questions.
