Microsoft Teams¶
Connect Microsoft Teams so meeting transcripts and chat threads can be part of what Mention learns from. This is useful when decisions and explanations happen in calls and channel discussions rather than in static docs.
What gets synced¶
Mention works with two kinds of Teams content:
Meeting transcripts
- Transcripts from Teams meetings where recording and transcription are available and allowed by your tenant's policy.
- Each transcript is a single Transcript asset with speaker turns preserved so context — who said what — stays clear.
Channel and chat threads
- A thread is captured on demand when an admin @-mentions the Mention bot inside the thread.
- The thread is ingested as a Conversation asset. Captured Conversations expire roughly an hour after capture if not activated — see Managing Assets.
- This lets you bring in specific discussions without subscribing Mention to every channel.
How to connect¶
- Add Microsoft Teams as a source in Mention.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account that has the right tenant permissions to authorize the app (your IT team can confirm).
- Approve the requested permissions on the Microsoft consent screen — these cover transcript access and the bot identity used for
@mentioncapture. - After connecting, review the list of available transcripts and activate the ones Mention should use.
- To capture a thread, mention the Mention bot inside that thread in Teams.
Things to know¶
- Not every meeting produces a transcript; it depends on tenant transcription settings, recording policies, and host behavior in Teams.
- @-mention capture in channels and chats requires the bot to have access to that conversation — your Teams admin controls where the bot can be added.
- Speaker labels in transcripts and threads are aligned with the participant information Teams provides.
- Treat sensitive channels carefully — only enable bot access where your security and compliance policies allow.
Sync behavior¶
Transcripts are picked up on a daily schedule along with other sources, and you can refresh manually when you need a recent meeting to appear sooner. Threads pulled in via @mention follow the on-demand flow described above.
Activation limit¶
You can activate up to 2,000 items per Microsoft Teams integration (transcripts and conversation threads count toward the same limit).
