Microsoft 365¶
Connect Microsoft 365 so documents in SharePoint and OneDrive can inform Mention. This is the right choice when your team's source of truth is in a Microsoft tenant alongside Teams, Outlook, and the rest of the M365 stack.
For Teams transcripts and chat threads, see Microsoft Teams.
What gets synced¶
Mention discovers supported documents in the connected user's OneDrive: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, PDFs, and plain‑text, Markdown, and HTML files. Other file types (images, video, archives, and so on) are skipped.
Office files are imported with their structure — headings, sections, and text — preserved so the original organization of the document remains usable.
How to connect¶
- Add Microsoft 365 as a source in Mention.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account that can authorize the integration for your tenant (typically a tenant admin or someone with the right role — your IT team can confirm).
- Approve the permissions shown on the Microsoft consent screen. Mention requests read access to the SharePoint sites and OneDrive content the connected account has access to.
- Optionally choose a start date so only documents modified on or after that date are discovered.
- After connecting, browse the discovered documents and activate the items Mention should use.
If authorization fails, check that your tenant's admin consent settings allow the integration. See Connecting sources.
Things to know¶
- The account you connect with must be able to open a file in SharePoint or OneDrive for it to be a candidate to import. Mention does not see content the account cannot access.
- Permission changes upstream (someone is removed from a site, a sharing link is revoked) are honored on the next sync — assets the account can no longer access drop out.
- Tenant-wide policies for information protection labels and DLP still apply; Mention only ingests content the connected account is permitted to read.
- For meeting transcripts and chat threads, use the Microsoft Teams integration instead.
Sync behavior¶
OneDrive content is synced on a daily schedule. You can also refresh manually when you need recent edits to be reflected immediately.
When you connect, you can choose a start date. If you set one, Mention only discovers documents modified on or after that date — useful for keeping large drives fast to sync. Leave it empty to discover all supported documents regardless of age.
Activation limit¶
You can activate up to 2,000 items per Microsoft 365 integration (each file counts toward that limit).
